On walking through my local bookstore recently, I rounded the corner to my favorite isle, and was filled with no small amount of pride to see the works of Jim Butcher and Patricia Briggs displayed prominently on the bookshelves, the shiny hardcover editions of their latest novels a testament to their ever-growing popularity. Both Jim and Patricia deserve the success and I'm happy for them and so very glad to be one of their many fans able to spread the word to more and more like-minded readers so that they, too, can discover what we already know. Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden and Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson are here to stay and for good reason. The readers come away caring about these characters and their stories. When the last word is read and the story ends, fans are left wanting more.

While many are currently deeply infatuated by the newest angsty and rather sparkly vampire craze, I thought I'd take us back a decade or so to another vampire romance of sorts. This would be Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story by Christopher Moore The title might suggest that I pulled this book from the bottom of the bargain barrel. Instead what I've found is a sharply-written, intelligent, and highly entertaining novel.

I,Strahd by P.N. Elrod
An Audio Book Review
Narrated by Roddy McDowall

A long, long time ago my husband and I were married. It was so long ago that not only did dinosaurs roam the earth but it was all the rage to have a vehicle with a tape deck in it. Everyone who knew us referred to us in polite company as "likeable but crazy as hell." As a lot of newly married folks do, we went off on a honeymoon to celebrate the beginning of our married life together, and there was no better way to kick things off than with a madcap adventure in a Jeep Cherokee with a tape deck.
