I just want to say thank u, ur one of the few people who actually understands that csi is not always true along with all the other media outlets which besmerch (i think i spelled that wrong) the name of furries.

I myself am a furry (arctic fox FTW!) and ive got so much crap about it from random people. i will be a fursuiter eventually, once i move out to be precise because my parents disowned me for being a furry. And yes, i do yiff, ill admit it, but thats because its fun, i dont (currently lol) yiff like they did on csi, but i may try it as many others have before

But once again, thank u, im glad u were able to see the ttrue side of furries

I am a PROUD furry and I want to thank you SO much for posting this educational bit on what we are. I personally am NOT a yiffer, but I do dress in my fursuit and chill with my friends.

It is thanks to the media that we are seen as disgusting people, but whatever. Once again I want to thank you!

I love the take on furries you’ve done here. You put us in just about a good a light as possible. Thank you for that.

Also, a big reason furries are seen as “sexual deviants” and whatnot is because of an unfortunate decision by the very first furry convention. They decided to try and attract more members by turning the whole thing into basically an orgy. Again, this was the VERY… FIRST… furry convention. Not only that, at the time, it was the ONLY furry convention (as I understand it.) Kinda hard to swing back from bad PR like that. And then there was the Vanity Fair article, and the CSI episode… guh. Crappy.

But I’m glad to hear you didn’t take the CSI episode at face value right off the bat, and you dug around and found the truth. Not a lot of people do that. Nice job.

Thank you for this wonderful article, so many people decide that TV is fact and base the rest of reality on that assumption. One minor correction, not all people who dress up in fursuits are furry lifestylers. Some just like the chalange of building a costum or enjoy the Cosplay like any other Cosplayer.

Thank you for being one of few who are well informed and shed true light on the fandom. So oft are furries demonized and put under false stereotypes due to tv shows, miss-informed media coverage, or a select minority of the fandom. Again I thank you for being truthful and explaining what the fandom really is.

When I first read what furries are, I was shocked. Friday, Dec. 12th 2009 I found the answered to who I was. I just turned 15 on the 4th of Jan. Yesterday.

im a bit of a furry, i mean i’m only 14 but i understand the concept of the furries and whatnot. i’m poor so rarely participate in conplays but will one day go to one dressed in a furry outfit. XD

This was very interesting to read. I thought all Furries dresses up and “yiffed” (I don’t know how to use this word). I didn’t know it had to anything with collecting or actually being interested in something. I never really thought about all the other people who dress up as characters, and the fact we don’t consider them weird at all. I agree with Mark T, these sock monkey pictures sound awesome.

The truth about Furries is that a whole group of people could be effectively ostracized not just by society at large but even within fandom just because of one show on a fictional series like CSI. Not that I wasn’t skeeved out by that episode but after all it was just an episode. Thanks for clearing the air somewhat.
